Big Cottonwood Canyon- Winter

I donned the waders and walked into the freezing water's of Big Cottonwood Canyon for some photography. I was being extra careful not to slip in the rapids walking on the slick rocks underneath.

I was doing great until I tried a new angle on the top of the rock in the foreground. As I was holding my 3SS GND filter in front of my lens, both boots grip gave out in a flash and I fell face-first. I slammed my cheek on the tripod, dropped my GND into the rapids in an attempt to save from falling all the way under. I managed to get hold but kept sliding down the smooth rock until my camera bag was submerged with my other lens and gear! After a quick dip, I gained purchase and was able to stand up and walk to shallower waters, angry, now wet and even more cold. My cheek was bumping, my hands freezing, and I knew I had just lost my filter. After I calmed down I kept shooting, and let the sound of the river help get me back to some equilibrium.

Altogether it turned out to be another good night of shooting.
