INFO ABOUT THE ANIMAL:

Name: Harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja)
Location: Rainforests of South and Central America
Size: 105 cm long wingspan: 220 cm weight: 6-9 Kg (for a female, males are smaller)
Diet: monkeys, sloths, birds, coati, opossum, reptiles. They are top predators
Conservation status: Near Threatened
Interesting facts: i tis difficult to judge which species of an eagle is the largest one, but harpy eagle is definitely among the three largest species | harpy eagle hunt its prey during the fligh – the bird flies trough the forest, taking the animals right from the branch. Harpy eagle can bear amazingly heavy prey in its claws | the patents prepare the nest only once in three years. The female lays two eggs, but eagles usually rise only one baby, who is fed by patents for more than a year, staying close to the nest.
